Masterclass for Lied Duos in Kimito Island in July 2024

The Kimito Island Music Festival, in collaboration with the Finnish Lied Academy, is organizing a masterclass for lied duos in Kimito Island from July 7 to July 10, 2024. The course begins on Sunday at 10:00 AM (EEST) and concludes on Wednesday after the final concert. The course will be held at the Villa Lande and the Arkipelag Music Institute. The course is primarily intended for Lied duos, but individual singers are welcome if space permits. 

The teachers for the course will be soprano Helena Juntunen and pianist Eveliina Kytömäki.

The course fee is 450 € for both Lied duos and individual singers. The daily lessons have a duration of 45 minutes/day. Additionally, participants can observe other sessions. Included in the course fee is 4 x 45 minutes of teaching. Each participant is responsible for their own accommodation, meals, travel, and other expenses. Participants will have the opportunity to attend most of the Music Festival concerts. The course attendance is limited to 7 pairs/participants. Auditors are also welcome to attend for a participation fee of 50 €, and free of charge for members of the Lied Academy.

The course is aimed at students of a musical profession, adult amateurs, and professionals. Applications, including the names and places of study of the applicants, CVs, a description of the duo’s collaboration or individual activities, and the repertoire to be worked on during the course, should be sent to leiri(at)kimf.fi by June 21, 2024. The email subject line should be MASTERCLASS APPLICATION.

Applicants will be notified of selections by email by June 24, 2024.

Accommodation: The most affordable and closest accommodation is likely at Brusaby, where a double room costs 25€ per person and a single room costs 35€ per person. Reservations must be made by June 26, 2024, at brusaby@axxell.fi. The message must state participation in the singing course. The accommodation is in apartment-style rooms with a shared kitchen. Brusaby does not provide breakfast during the course.
